I was born in Lima, Peru. Grew up in Switzerland. If anyone asks me about my nationality, I say I’m Swiss-Peruvian. Not Swiss. Not Peruvian. Swiss-Peruvian. My origins have a great influence on my music. Even if that isn’t directly audible.
I must have been about six years old when I whistled something while I was peeing that sounded like Mozart. From that moment on it was clear to me that I had an affinity for music. I carried this knowledge around with me like a precious secret. It wasn’t until I was sixteen that I got my hands on a guitar by coincidence, and then never let go of it.

My teachers: My first teacher was Florian Heeb. Meeting him was a crucial experience for me. He gave me the lasting conviction I have about playing the guitar. I did my professional training with Claude Chappuis. From him I learned the fundamental parts of guitar playing .
Following this, and thanks to generous scholarships, I was able to continue my
studies with Jose Tomas in Spain. In Jose Tomas I met a guitarist with great sound and heart. His continuous positive attitude towards my playing during the lessons has become a model upon which I base my own teaching.

While I was still undergoing my basic training I met Alberto Ponce. He was crucial to me. He confirmed what I had always felt for music and gave me an essential way of playing. I took courses from him for over three years. Afterwards I studied with him in Paris for two years and completed my studies with honors (premier prix à l'unanimité courneuve).

Zen:

I felt that I had an excellent education, but I still didn’t have the answers to many questions about life. I found these answers when I met Zen master Joan Rieck. She was able to convey to me unmistakably that it was a blessing to be able to play the guitar. The way Zen is taught one on one has shaped the way I myself teach. My current Zen master is Willigis Jäger (see photo). I am eternally grateful to him for his teaching and support.
